Post: Equity Bank CEO Urges Scholarship Beneficiaries to Embrace Innovation and Wise Decision-Making

Mombasa: Equity Group Holdings CEO, Dr. James Mwangi, has called on students under the Wings to Fly and Elimu Scholarships programs to harness innovation, manage time wisely, and make sound decisions as a foundation for a successful future. Speaking at the 16th Annual Regional Education and Leadership Congress held at Mama Ngina Girls Secondary School, Dr. Mwangi addressed over 1,800 Form Three and Four scholarship recipients, urging them to position themselves at the forefront of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.According to Kenya News Agency, the congress, coming in the wake of various innovative technologies that continue to shape the world, including Artificial Intelligence, was held under the theme: The Innovation Generation: igniting ideas, creating impact. 'You shouldn't miss the opportunity to be part of your generation. The generation of the fourth industrial technologies. You must get hooked on those technologies,' Dr. Mwangi said.The CEO lauded the learners for keeping the faith and remaining s teadfast in the journey of self-improvement. The learners were also extolled to remain focused in pursuit of a better future. 'This programme is not about education; it is about giving you a pathway of changing your life, ensuring your life is not a continuation of that past we all know, that you know better than anybody else. This is a turning point for you,' said Dr. Mwangi.He advised the learners to use time productively and to make right choices in their lives, noting that progress can only be realized if time is used well, constructively, and creatively. The Form 4 students were urged to use the remaining five months before the commencement of KCSE to change and improve their academic performance.'We have five months to the examinations, five months can make a huge difference. It's been a long time. I want to appeal to you to really focus on your studies. Make dedication to your studies for the next five months because it will make a difference in your lives,' Mwangi advised.He further encouraged t he learners to make the right choices that would enable them to realize their dreams of a better future, challenging: 'Each of us has a dream, but dreams are dreams; they only become meaningful if they become true, but dreams do not become true, they are made to come true by the choices we make. I want to encourage you to make the right choices.'The learners were urged to use the scholarships to improve their lives as they had overcome all the odds to get the coveted scholarships. 'We took away all the challenges that you were confronting to continue your education. We ensured you had school fees, uniforms, pocket money, and fare to school. We denied you any excuse; you have no excuse not to pass because all the excuses you had were taken away,' said Dr. Mwangi.'If you do not make it for the rest of your life, you'll be regretting that you never made the right decisions while in high school,' he added, advising the learners to be decisive and action-oriented to improve their lives.
