Post: Flames consume two children in Mbonge

Two children, Memory, six (6) and Ngwenyor eights (8) years old have perished in a fire incident at Mbonge road, Sunday night July 28, 2024.A house with four rooms constructed with makeshift material was engulfed by flames from an unknown origin at about 11:00pm. They were living in one of the rooms with their mother and two other siblings who escaped.'Around 11:00pm, I heard people shouting fire! fire!. I stepped outside and saw my neighbor's room being ravaged. I saw one of her sons trying to escape through the window. It was terrifying. I got in my room and took out the gass bottle to avoid explosion and propagation of the flames.' A neighbor in shock narrated.The aggrieved woman who survived with burns on her hand narrated that it was one of her children who alerted her.' I was asleep when one of my children woke me up that fire was consuming the house. We managed to run outside. I saw the other struggling to escape through the window. I went to help before sustaining the burns on my hands.' The w oman explained on tears.The remaining two who were deep asleep were burned to ashes.'The fire was too much. We couldn't save them struggling in the flames. Pathetic.' A witness confessed.The clustered houses made it difficult for fire fighters to get to the scene .The remains of the two children were gathered in two bags to be interred in their native Bekondo village where the family hails from.It should be noted, the deceased boy, Memory was on holiday with his aunt and siblings.Source: Cameroon News Agency
