FLLoCA Projects Progress in Trans Nzoia Amidst Collaboration and Challenges

TRANS NZOIA: Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has committed to working alongside international donors to advance the county’s developmental goals, emphasizing the importance of partnerships for effective progress. In particular, Natembeya credited the World Bank for its enduring support of regional development initiatives.

According to Kenya News Agency, Governor Natembeya recently convened with representatives from the National Treasury and the World Bank to assess the ongoing projects facilitated by the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) Program. Natembeya underscored his administration’s dedication to bringing development directly to the residents, a goal that hinges significantly on donor contributions. He highlighted the vital role of the World Bank in improving infrastructure and implementing climate change mitigation strategies within the county.

Despite these advancements, Boniface Wanyonyi, Trans Nzoia County Executive Committee Member for Environment, identified delayed cash transf
ers from the County Revenue Fund to the Special Purpose Account as a significant impediment to the project’s implementation. Wanyonyi also called on the World Bank to boost staffing in critical areas to enhance project efficiency.

Muratha Kinuthia, leading the World Bank delegation, assured continued support to address climate change-related challenges. In addition, Abraham Barsosio from the National Treasury conducted visits to several ongoing initiatives, including the Bidii Tree Project, Kaplamai Affordable Fuel Jikos, and Botwa Water Project, signaling ongoing commitment to these local efforts.
