Amagoro: A former General Service Unit (GSU) volleyball head coach, Moses Epoloto, arrived in Amagoro after completing a 400km charity walk from All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi. The walk, which began on October 6, aimed to raise funds for the completion of a local church.
According to Kenya News Agency, Epoloto was greeted by Apostle Benson Oriama, the Malaba ACK Vicar General, at the Kocholia bridge upon his arrival. He was then escorted to the Katakwa Diocesan headquarters, where Bishop John Okude officially received him. Other attendees included St. Thomas Amagoro Vicar General Isbalella Inyele Imo, diocesan Administrative Secretary Milton Barasa, retired mother's union coordinator Jane Opollo, and current coordinator Selencia Idewa.
Bishop Okude addressed the press, highlighting that Epoloto had committed to helping complete the church building, which remained unfinished after the passing of Epoloto's father. Okude expressed gratitude for Epoloto's efforts, saying, "Thanks for arriving in Katakwa Diocese after a treacherous walk. Despite retiring from your duties, you can still trek for over 400km to raise money for the completion of the church."
Bishop Okude also encouraged the youth to follow Epoloto's example, emphasizing the importance of using their energy for positive causes. He remarked that Epoloto's father would have been displeased to see the church in its current state.
Epoloto shared that he had informed his pastor, Justin Njoroge, of his plans to raise approximately Sh4 million for the church's completion. He expressed gratitude for the support received from the media, particularly KBC and NTV Uganda, and remained hopeful that more media outlets would cover his efforts in the future.
As Epoloto continues his mission, which extends into Uganda, he remains optimistic about achieving his fundraising goals and completing the church renovation.
