Gichugu: Gichungu Technical Vocation College (TVC) has introduced two new courses-machine operator and driving-aimed at equipping students with essential skills for the job market. The state-of-the-art public technical training institute, known for its well-furnished workshops and laboratories, is making strides to offer the best learning experience.
According to Kenya News Agency, the institution's leadership, with support from Machere College, aims to align its offerings with industry demands by collaborating with the private sector. School principal Joseph Kimemei emphasized the importance of providing competence and quality skills to learners during the launch of the new courses.
Vision 2030, predicting industrialization in Kenya, underscores the increasing demand for technical courses. This initiative calls for young and skilled individuals to acquire certificates, enhancing their opportunities for better courses and improved pay.
Samuel Murange, administrator operations manager at Machele Group of Companies, highlighted the institution's target of equipping more youth with relevant skills. He noted the high demand for machine operator experts in Kenya, with many counties signing working contracts that require skilled workers. Murange encouraged parents to take advantage of the nearby courses to avoid the burden of traveling long distances.
Symon Munene Nyanga, a student enrolled in the plant operator course at Gichungu TVET, expressed gratitude to the school administration for introducing these courses. He hopes to gain skills that will make him competitive in the job market.
