Migori: Migori Governor Dr. Ochilo Ayacko has called on leaders to be purposeful as they lead the people that elected them. Ochilo, who spoke during a county prayer day held at the Migori County Stadium, noted that peace, unity, progress, and tolerance should be exercised across the country to improve citizen service delivery. He added that his administration has been working closely with the religious leaders for spiritual nourishment as well as addressing challenges facing the county.
According to Kenya News Agency, Ochilo urged the religious leaders to continue praying for the 48 governments-one national government and 47 county governments-to continue realizing peace for the purpose of serving Kenyans. "We have been chosen by the people to serve in various leadership positions, a privilege and honor given by the powers of the electorate and by God's grace, and therefore we should have a purpose to fulfill the dreams of all Kenyans," said Ochilo. He thanked the Church for its prayers and called the county to worship, acknowledging its role in peacebuilding and preaching unity.
Migori County Commissioner Kisilu Mutua said that prayers are needed always to make human beings live harmoniously in society. Mutua said that they have been working closely with the County administration to reduce every toxicity to ensure the county moves forward economically and security-wise. The official urged all elected leaders in the county to exercise humility, adding that it is God who puts people in leadership positions. "We should learn to be humble and respect those who are in leadership now and only seek the same position when the time comes because we have a season for everything," noted Mutua.
The Chairperson of Migori Clergy Reverend Charles Odigo and The Vice Chairperson of the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK), John Okinda, stressed the importance of political tolerance among political leaders. They noted that they will continue to pray for peace and political tolerance to ensure the county prospers in the economic sphere.
