Trans nzoia: County Governor George Natembeya has initiated additional changes within his administration, focusing on improving service delivery efficiency. Natembeya announced these changes shortly after the swearing-in of four new County Executive Committee Members (CECM).
According to Kenya News Agency, the latest reshuffles involve the newly appointed CECM for Public Service Management, Robert Wamalwa, who has been transferred to the Department of Water and Environment, replacing Kerio Lorot. Lorot, a new entrant, will now oversee the Health Department, taking over from Sam Ojwang, who had been serving in an acting capacity. Ojwang will continue to lead the Public Service Management department, as part of a broader restructuring process prompted by the expiration of the current CECMs' contracts.
Since the commencement of these changes by the governor, three CECMs-Bonface Wanyonyi (Water and Environment), Julia Ruto (Public Service Management), and Stanley Kirui (Gender and Youth)-have been dismissed. The future of five CECMs who are interested in contract renewals-Phanice Khatundi (Agriculture), Janerose Mutama (Education), Sam Ojwang (PSM), Pepela Wanjala (Finance), and Patrick Gacheru (Trade)-remains uncertain, with attention now directed towards the governor's decisions.
Additionally, Natembeya disclosed that Roads CECM Chanelle Kittony, who has not shown interest in renewing her contract, might soon be replaced.
