Local administration in Loitoktok has banned hawking of milk in Loitoktok Sub County as a measure of enhancing food safety.
During 61st Madaraka Day Celebrations held at Oloitiptip Stadium in Loitoktok, Loitoktok Sub County Deputy County Commissioner, Antony Maina said the ban is aimed at ensuring milk sold in the sub county is safe for consumption.
This is after allegations of chemical being put in the milk for preservation citing that the milk can go even to five days without going bad without refrigeration.
The DCC also banned use of plastic containers in ferrying of milk to cooperatives or milk depots instead emphasized use of aluminum containers.
Maina called upon all to observe all regulations laid down in milk business and food in general to ensure safety of food stuff.
The administrator also expressed concern on rising cases of burglary in Loitoktok town and its environs urging members of public to report any suspicious individuals as well as cooperate with security apparatus to bring to end the
vice.
In his speech read by Milka Ndung’u an administrator from Oloopon area, Kajiado County Governor Joseph Ole Lenku applauded Ministry of Tourism for its commitment to implement presidential directive on Amboseli National Park.
Ole Lenku appreciated the 11 group ranches in the region for donating about 1 million acres of land as conservancy.
On the nuisance Ipomea weed choking growth of palatable vegetation to animals, he said he has engaged youths to physically uproot the weed and appropriately dispose it through and initiative dubbed Ng’oa Ipomea.
The county Madaraka celebrations were held in Kajiado central.
