Vihiga: The Ministry of Health has today stepped up its county assessment tours in Vihiga as part of efforts to accelerate the government's transformative health agenda under the Taifa Care Model. Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale is leading the Ministry's top leadership in the visit, which marks a milestone in advancing the implementation of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
According to Kenya News Agency, the programme entails a health caucus sensitization forum, an inspection tour of the Vihiga County Teaching and Referral Hospital, and a public engagement forum to sensitize residents on the benefits of the Social Health Authority (SHA). In a bid to strengthen service delivery, the Ministry will also hand over end-user devices to support digital transformation within the county health system.
The CS was accompanied by Principal Secretary for Medical Services Dr. Ouma Oluga, SHA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, and DHA Chief Executive Officer Eng. Anthony Lenayara. The delegation was hosted by Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo alongside other county and national leaders.
