Abuja: The President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, recently hosted a courtesy visit from Prof. Wautabouna Ouattara, the Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the West Africa region. The meeting took place as part of Prof. Ouattara's engagements following his appointment to the role.
According to African Press Organization, President Touray expressed his support for Prof. Ouattara's mandate and emphasized the importance of the IMF's involvement in developing a regional market in West Africa. He also highlighted the need for implementation of programs that enhance regional stability and integration.
Prof. Ouattara acknowledged the efforts of ECOWAS in conflict resolution and economic integration within the region. He committed to increased collaboration with ECOWAS and the 14 countries under his jurisdiction to tackle issues such as public debt, budget deficits, and economic growth.
