President Kais Saied decided on Friday to entrust the preparation of a consultation project on the reform of education and teaching to a commission to be created for this purpose, as reported on the social media page of the Presidency of the Republic.
This decision was announced during a working session held at the Carthage Palace, in the presence of Prime Minister Najla Bouden, Minister of Education Mohamed Ali Boughdiri, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Moncef Boukthir, Minister of Youth and Sports Kamel Gueddiche, Minister of Cultural Affairs Hayet Ketata and Minister of Family, Women, Children and the Elderly Amel Belhaj Moussa.
According to the same source, the commission which will start its work next week will include representatives of the departments, whose ministers attended this meeting, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Vocational Training and Employment, in addition to sociology experts.
Saied stressed that teaching and education is a sector of concern and reform in this field can only be complete if it is carried out according to a comprehensive approach covering all stages of education, noting that the fruits of this reform can only be reaped decades later.
He further stated that the inclusion of the Higher Council for Education and Teaching in the text of the Constitution is the result of a strong belief in the importance of science and education in the life of societies.
The working session also focused on the maintenance of educational institutions and the contribution of citizens to efforts in this field.
