The independent regional authority for elections (IRIE) in Kasserine has received two legal challenges against the preliminary results of the first round of the December 24 local elections, which will be decided by the Administrative Court no later than January 5.
The head of the IRIE in Kasserine, Abdelmoneim Bouzaine, told TAP the preliminary results of the elections led to 52 candidates being elected to the next local councils in 52 constituencies, while 110 candidates were able to go through to the second round following the challenges.
The second round of the local elections will take place in the first half of February, provided that all deadlines for challenges set out in the electoral law are met, spokesperson for the ISIE, Mohamed Tlili Mansri, told reporters.
