Post: KCSE candidates get Sh.7M bursary from Muhoroni NG-CDF

Muhoroni National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) has disbursed Sh.7 million worth of bursaries to 29 secondary schools in the area to facilitate fee payment for candidates sitting this year’s national examinations.

The funds, target to clear the fee arrears especially for the Form Four candidates in both boarding and day schools to enable them sit the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations uninterrupted.

The 2024 KCSE exams have been scheduled to kick off on Tuesday, October 22 and end on November 22.

Sospeter Ngere, the Muhoroni Constituency NG-CDF manager presided over the cheques issuance on behalf of area MP James Onyango Koyoo at Nyangoma chief’s camp on Friday.

Ngere noted that all applications received from the vulnerable candidates with fee challenges in sub-county, county and extra-county schools were processed and allocated funds.

Mr. Benard Del, Muhoroni NG-CDF chairperson while speaking at the event, emphasized that the NG-CDF committee prioritized the
candidates to enable them write their exams stress free.

‘We have directed the school principals to direct the money from the accounts of students who have nil fee balances but have benefitted, to the accounts of their needy counterparts,’ he stated.

Del reiterated that they envision this year’s KCSE candidates to write their exams in a conducive environment devoid of any hiccups occasioned by non-payment of school fees.

Other secondary students, Del announced, would be considered for bursaries before the beginning of school terms in January 2025.

In July this year, Hon Koyoo issued approximately Sh.16 million college and university students studying special courses including Architecture, Medicine, Engineering and Law to cater for their full year fees.

At the same time, Ngere highlighted plans to construct Muhoroni Technical Training Institute which will admit youths from local and beyond for technical courses.

The Institute, he said, will help reduce traveling to other counties seeking to be enrolled
for similar courses.

‘We want to support them right here, and the first cohort will be fully sponsored under the Muhoroni NG-CDF,’ Ngere assured.
