Post: KDF Reaffirms Transparency During Recruitment Drive

Homa bay: The Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) has reiterated their commitment to integrity and fairness in the ongoing nationwide recruitment exercise, as the Homa Bay leg of the process kicked off smoothly Monday.

According to Kenya News Agency, Lieutenant Colonel Austin Kirwa, who is in charge of the Homa Bay recruitment center, stated that the turnout from the local youth was high and the exercise was progressing according to expectations. He noted that the recruitment has been orderly, with candidates showing enthusiasm.

Kirwa explained that the recruitment aimed to fill positions requiring technical and specialized skills, with candidates undergoing aptitude and competence tests to assess their suitability. He emphasized that the recruitment process was transparent, free of corruption, and strictly merit-based. He warned applicants against falling victim to fraudsters claiming to have influence over the exercise, stating, "KDF does not solicit or accept bribes. Let no one deceive you that they can help you join the military. The process is transparent, verifiable, and based purely on merit."

The KDF recruitment involves document verification, physical and medical screening, and aptitude tests. Candidates must meet basic requirements, with an age limit between 18 and 26 years for general recruits. The height, weight, and education standards vary for different categories, with a minimum height requirement of 1.60 meters for men and 1.52 meters for women, and a minimum weight of 54.5 kilograms for men and 50 kilograms for women.

Those who qualify are shortlisted, interviewed, and subjected to further medical examinations before being enlisted for training at the Recruits Training School in Eldoret or the Kenya Military Academy in Lanet. The nationwide KDF recruitment exercise follows a structured and rigorous process to ensure only qualified and disciplined individuals are selected.

"So far, the candidates have undergone all the required parameters, and we have only a few examinations left before wrapping up the process," Kirwa stated. He urged the public to support the process, emphasizing that KDF's goal is to ensure a fair recruitment exercise where those who meet the standards earn their place on merit.
