Kericho: The Kericho County Government has taken significant strides in enhancing public learning and literacy by successfully renovating and modernizing the Kericho Library, marking a key development milestone under Governor Dr. Eric Mutai's administration. Governor Mutai highlighted that this transformation is part of a broader county initiative aimed at revitalizing educational centers to encourage a culture of reading and digital literacy among residents.According to Kenya News Agency, Governor Mutai emphasized that upon assuming office, he inherited a dilapidated Kericho library from the Kenya National Library Services. Last year, the County Government launched a comprehensive renovation program to address this issue. Extensive renovations were carried out, equipping the facility with modern amenities and stocking it with curriculum-aligned books to complement the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).In a statement, the governor further noted that the refurbished library now caters to learners from all academic levels, offering a conducive environment for research, innovation, and personal development. He encouraged parents and the general public to utilize the revitalized facility, which is now open to all learners across all levels.Governor Mutai also revealed that the children's section has been thoughtfully designed to be learner-friendly and engaging, incorporating areas for study and play to enhance creativity and concentration. The adult section offers a serene and quiet atmosphere, ideal for professionals, scholars, and readers seeking an uninterrupted reading experience.The county has also created private reading rooms to accommodate readers who require specialized environments, thereby promoting inclusivity and comfort for all users. Mutai urged parents to take advantage of the ongoing holiday period to enlist their children at the library, offering them a world-class learning experience. He asserted that the revamped facility symbolizes the county's commitment to nurturing knowledge, innovati on, and literacy for all.Moreover, Governor Mutai announced plans to complete the Kipkelion Library in Kipkelion West Sub-County and the Roret Library in Bureti Sub-County within the current financial year.
