Kiambu: Kiambu Municipality has moved a notch higher in promoting democratic participation of citizens in public affairs as local leaders spearheaded a comprehensive public participation forum that has sparked calls for national-level implementation of similar initiatives.
According to Kenya News Agency, the community engagement session, led by Member of County Assembly Lawrence Mwaura, drew significant participation from residents across various wards, marking a major milestone of grassroots citizens' participation within Kiambu County.
During the forum, MCA Mwaura emphasized the critical need for expanding public participation mechanisms beyond the local level. 'What we are witnessing here in Kiambu Municipality should serve as a blueprint for national engagement,' Mwaura stated. 'Citizens deserve meaningful participation in decisions that affect their daily lives, from the village level to national policy formulation.'
