Kiambu County will in the next one week receive rain over most of the areas ranging between 20mm to more than 120mm.
According to the Director Meteorological Kiambu, Ms Magdalene Gateri, areas such as Gatundu North and South are expected to receive rainfall amounts ranging from more than 70mm to over 120mm cumulatively.
Giving a weather update for the next one week starting today, Gateri said ‘Rainfall is expected to increase in intensity and spread to several places during the week and is expected to continue towards the end of the third week of April.
She added that areas of Kiambaa and Githunguri sub counties are expected to receive rainfall from more than 50mm to over 100mm while Lari Sub county receiving between 50mm and 70 with few areas like Kamae receiving rainfall of more than 100 mm.
‘The rainfall will intensify as we approach the onset dates and therefore farmers are advised to make use of the coming rains and also practice water harvesting when there is rain,’ she advised.
In the areas of Juj
a and Ruiru sub counties, they will receive rainfall amounts from 20mm to more than 120mm.
Gateri urged road users take maximum care during this rainy period. In the last week Kiambu areas of Kiamworia, Kiganjo ward in Gatundu South have been experiencing heavy rains with Thika East last night recording heavy flooding
The Rainfall Outlook for April 2024 which is the peak month of the ‘Long Rains’ season. Indicates that near to above-average rainfall is expected across most parts of the country. Additionally, it’s important to note that isolated episodes of heavy rainfall may occur in various parts of the country during the month.
