Residents of Kilo in Lare Ward, in Nakuru County, are set to benefit from the construction of a new bridge at River Makara, a project that promises to transform their daily lives and enhance accessibility within the region.The Sh5.7 million bridge will benefit the community, including students from Miti Mingi, Kilo Primary, and Kilo Mixed Secondary School, as well as individuals accessing the local quarries.The Project Engineer, Symon Kariuki, today urged the contractor to prioritise employing residents from the area, thereby creating job opportunities and boosting the local economy during the construction phase.The area Member of County Assembly (MCA), Phillip Wanjohi, expressed his gratitude to the County Government of Nakuru for prioritising this essential project, as it is expected to facilitate smoother, easier, and safer transport in the ward.The MCA noted that during the rainy season, when the River Makara floods, schoolchildren are forced to walk longer distances due to the fear of slipping o ver.
