Post: Kindiki Urges Youth to Register as Voters, Highlights Development Projects in Murang’a

Kangema: Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has called upon Kenyan youth who are not registered voters to turn up and register in order to participate in the coming general elections. The Deputy President, who spoke at General Kago Stadium in Kangema town during the Kangema Constituency Economic Empowerment forum, emphasized the importance of voter registration.

According to Kenya News Agency, Kindiki highlighted the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission's ongoing registration efforts to ensure eligible youth are included in the voters' roll, urging them to take full advantage of the opportunity. He called upon residents of Murang'a and the entire country to ensure that all those who have attained the required age of 18 years register as voters. He underscored the necessity of having a national identity card and being a registered voter to choose their leaders.

Kindiki also addressed the crowd, encouraging them to inform young people about the voter registration process. He reiterated that registering as voters is the only way Kenyans can elect the leaders they desire and participate in determining the country's leadership.

At the same event, Kindiki outlined government-funded development projects worth Sh17.4 billion underway in Murang'a County. He announced the construction of 23 modern markets valued at Sh3 billion, including those in Karugia and Kagira in Kangema constituency. Additionally, Sh11 billion has been allocated to affordable housing projects in Makuyu, Makenji, Gatanga, and Kiharu.

The education sector in Murang'a County is set to benefit from Sh3.4 billion earmarked for new hostels at Murang'a University of Technology, Murang'a Teachers College, the Kenya Medical Training Colleges (KMTC), and various TVET institutions. Kangema constituency will receive Sh270 million to support 3,170 households as part of a Sh1.2 billion last-mile electricity connection program across the county.

Kindiki noted that Sh60 million has already been disbursed for road carpeting in Kangema, with an additional Sh30 million to be released soon, and pledged a further Sh50 million. He announced plans to upgrade the General Kago Stadium in Kangema to international standards and enhance facilities and staffing at Kangema Level 4 Hospital.

He commended Murang'a leaders for their collaboration with the government in securing these projects and urged politicians to prioritize addressing people's challenges over lamenting. Kindiki also defended the government against what he termed unfair criticism, advocating for just and fact-based critique.

The forum saw attendance from senior leaders, including National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah, Murang'a Woman Rep Betty Maina, nominated MP Sabina Chege, Senator Veronica Maina, and several MPs and MCAs from across the country.
