Busia county: The Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) has initiated the implementation of a women empowerment policy to promote national development across the country. Speaking in Busia County, KIPPRA executive director Dr. Eldah Onsomu emphasized the organization's commitment to fostering development among marginalized groups.

According to Kenya News Agency, Dr. Onsomu highlighted KIPPRA's program focused on empowering women through a government-approved policy. The policy aims to ensure no group is left behind by building capacity among marginalized communities across all 47 counties. The initiative targets women, people with disabilities, marginalized groups, and youth, providing them with training and empowerment to contribute to national development.

Dr. Onsomu further explained that the policy's implementation is crucial for national planning and development. She underscored the significance of monitoring childcare and women empowerment policies, as they are vital for better planning and sustainable development. By empowering marginalized groups, the policy seeks to guarantee sustainable national progress.

She urged women in Busia County to seize the opportunity presented by the program for their benefit. Dr. Onsomu encouraged women to balance work with childcare responsibilities, focusing on nutrition, education, and training to capitalize on government projects and support for women and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Additionally, Dr. Onsomu disclosed KIPPRA's support for the government's tree-planting initiative, aiming to plant 15 billion trees by 2032. To date, KIPPRA has planted 135,000 trees, with 9,500 trees planted this quarter, complementing the government's environmental goals.
