Post: Launch of Clean Cook Stoves Benefits Thousands in Tana River

Tana River: Over 2000 households in Tana River have benefited from the energy-efficient stoves designed to use less firewood, which would help in reducing the rate of deforestation in the region. Tana River Deputy Governor Mahadh Ali Loka emphasized the importance of adopting modern and environmentally friendly cooking technologies.

According to Kenya News Agency, the Deputy Governor, who was speaking to the press at his Hola Office Monday, said the stoves not only save energy but also protect the health of families by reducing harmful emissions. At the same time, the Principal Secretary of Energy, Mr. Alex Wachira, said that clean cooking solutions were essential in the climate change and achieving sustainable development goals, adding that the use of cook stoves has saved a lot of lives and reduced deforestation in the country.

Mr. Wachira highlighted that approximately 26,000 lives are lost annually in Kenya due to exposure to emissions from insufficient stoves and poorly ventilated environments.
