Mass registration of poor and vulnerable people has kicked off in Molo Sub-County in an exercise aimed at enabling the State to open an Enhanced Single Register for all persons who are eligible for Government social assistance.The exercise, which is being supervised by the department of social services, is set to last for six days.Through the register, the government will be able to share the data in it with other non-governmental organisations who will be able to assist the poor and vulnerable with the aim of prioritising their concerns when need arises.The area chief, Lucy Waiganjo, who was present at the Molo Deputy County Commissioner's compound registration centre, said that this is a key exercise given that the government will have access to your data and will be in a position to make informed decisions and provide assistance in line with the needs of the people in various localities.She lauded the locals for turning up in large numbers for the exercise and urged more to come on board so that th ey are not left out in this registration.Hence, for one to be registered, they only need to produce their original national identification card.Source: Kenya News Agency
