Post: Mbadi Defends Economic Achievements Amid Criticism

Nairobi: Treasury Cabinet Secretary (CS) John Mbadi has assured Kenyans that the economy is on the right trajectory and dismissed allegations of a struggling economy. Mbadi emphasized that since his tenure began, he has managed to stabilize the economy, ensuring the government can meet its financial obligations promptly.

According to Kenya News Agency, Mbadi highlighted that inflation rates have been maintained at acceptable levels and debt repayments are being managed efficiently under his leadership. He claimed to have achieved more in his term than his predecessors, despite their longer durations in office. Mbadi refuted claims that the economy is deteriorating, labeling them as distractions from the progress being made.

For the first time, the Treasury has successfully transferred all funds owed to county governments by the end of the financial year, Mbadi noted. He made these comments during a funds drive at Mikuyu Primary School in Suba South, urging support for the broad-based government to further development efforts.

Mbadi also reported that the Treasury has cleared all arrears related to the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF). When he assumed office in August 2024, the Treasury owed NG-CDF Sh 13 billion, which he has since settled. Mbadi stated that the funds have been disbursed to the NG-CDF board for distribution to constituencies.

Addressing concerns about regional development, Mbadi insisted he should not be blamed for any perceived slow progress. Instead, he encouraged voters to hold their legislators and governors accountable for local development projects. Additionally, Mbadi assured that schools are receiving capitation funds on schedule, with payments staggered throughout the year.

Finally, he urged all Kenyans to register with the Social Health Authority to manage hospital bills effectively.
