Post: Migori September ASK Show Targets 20,000 Visitors

Migori: The Migori Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Branch is set to host this year's regional agricultural show from September 25th to 27th, 2025, at the Migori Showground in Lichota. The event aims to attract 20,000 visitors and will run under the theme 'Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth.'

According to Kenya News Agency, the planning committee, chaired by George Ongono, Chairperson of the South West Kenya Branch, Migori Agricultural Show, has organized the event to feature over 60 exhibitors from diverse sectors including agriculture, manufacturing, banking, education, hospitality, and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). These exhibitors will showcase innovations and best practices that promote climate change initiatives and smart agriculture.

Ongono highlighted that the event will offer more than just exhibitions. Attendees can participate in side events such as field days, football matches, and interactive forums aimed at engaging youth in agriculture. Stakeholders in climate-smart agriculture have also been invited to the show, and water catchment projects will be highlighted to encourage sustainable farming practices among Migori farmers.

The organizers are collaborating with the National Government and the National Show Committee (NSC) to ensure that the knowledge and lessons gained from the exhibition extend beyond the three-day event. Ongono emphasized the importance of attendees leaving with practical knowledge rather than just memories.

Migori County Secretary Oscar Olima expressed optimism about the expected turnout of approximately 20,000 visitors, noting a significant increase from attendance figures recorded five years ago. The Migori show, which began as a Harambee show in the 1980s, has evolved into a major event in the South Western Kenya branch, consistently attracting more than 40 exhibitors annually from various sectors, showcasing innovative and new technologies.
