Post: Mourners Pay Last Respects to Raila Odinga at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium

Nairobi: Leaders, clergy, and members of the public gathered, Saturday, at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium, Mamboleo in Kisumu, to pay their final respects to the late former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga.

According to Kenya News Agency, supporters from across the Nyanza region began arriving at the venue as early as 6:00 a.m. The body, transported by a military helicopter, arrived at around 8:54 a.m., followed by a brief prayer service led by the clergy and traditional recital.

Though the mammoth crowd maintained calm composure, emotions ran high as mourners paid tribute to the revered leader, who passed away on October 15, while undergoing treatment in India.

Public viewing of Odinga's body continued until 3:00 p.m., and according to PS Dr. Raymond Omolo, an extension of viewing would have been done if the exercise was not completed by then.
