Sirisia: Sirisia Member of Parliament John Waluke has called for fairness, inclusivity, and transparency in the forthcoming police recruitment exercise set to kick off on Friday. Waluke, who spoke at Chekalini ward in Lugari Sub County, called on the National Police Service Commission to ensure the recruitment exercise was devoid of malpractices that have been witnessed in the previous ones.
According to Kenya News Agency, Waluke is appealing to all those who will be involved in the recruitment exercise across the 47 counties to be fair and transparent. He emphasized the importance of giving each youth turning up at the recruitment center a fair chance without discrimination based on tribe or corruption. "We want those who deserve and are ready to serve the country to be recruited," he stated.
Waluke noted that President William Ruto's administration is keen on beefing up the country's security sector, and that is why it is employing 10,000 new police officers. He urged communities living in the western region to coexist peacefully regardless of their tribal and political affiliations. "The western region is now fully in government, and we have our share as a region. Whether you are a Luhya, Kalenjin, Sabaot, Teso, Kikuyu, Luo, or Kamba, you are now part of us, and Western is your home," he said.
The lawmaker who chairs the Western Members of Parliament caucus appealed to residents without National Identity cards to acquire them so they can register as voters in large numbers.
