Post: MP Commissions 20 Digital Labs in Narok West Constituency

Nairobi: Schools in Narok West Sub County have benefited from twenty (20) mobile digital laboratories that were purchased by the government through the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF). While commissioning the equipment for use, the area Member of Parliament Gabriel Tongoyo underscored the importance of equipping the Junior Secondary School (JSS) learners with crucial digital skills.

According to Kenya News Agency, the MP emphasized that these mobile laboratories are essential in the teaching and learning of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects. He noted that they serve as hubs of discovery, experimentation, and innovation, which are key pillars in the competency-based curriculum (CBC). The schools that have benefited include Oldany, Ngiito, Olchoro, Kuto, Koitamugul, Kipsongol, Agaanga, Oltepesi, and Kiptendet primary schools.

In addition to commissioning the digital labs, the MP also inaugurated four classrooms at Keneti Primary School and two classrooms at Oldany Primary School. These facilities were built and equipped by the NG-CDF. Furthermore, the MP launched the construction of the Mulot ICT hub, which is expected to boost digital literacy and foster innovation by providing essential digital skills vital in the modern job market.

Tongoyo, who also serves as the Chairman of the Security Committee in the National Assembly, stated that the ICT hub will enhance access to government services, enabling residents to access online government services at no cost. He expressed that the hub will contribute to economic growth by providing computers, internet, and training to empower the community, particularly the youth, to engage in the digital economy and improve their lives.

Parents attending the events praised the MP for prioritizing education, stating that the mobile equipment and the construction of new classrooms will significantly boost the education standards in the area.
