Post: Nandi County Leverages Technology for Better Equipment Management

Kapsabet: Road construction machinery owned by the County Government of Nandi will be mounted with surveillance devices to ensure the intended purpose of the machines is achieved. The new Chief Executive Committee Member for Roads and Infrastructure, Engineer Robert Limo, revealed that they were equipping the road construction and maintenance machinery with technology that can monitor every movement and activity as a strategy for timely service delivery and responsible use.

According to Kenya News Agency, Engineer Limo stated that they will be collecting as much data as possible to ensure that the machines working on Nandi roads are in the right shape and place at all times. He mentioned that extra supervision will be implemented, including involving residents to report any issues arising from the use of government equipment.

Engineer Limo made these remarks while speaking to the press after attending the Nandi County Government 2023-2027 strategic plans stakeholders’ engagement and validation forum in Kapsabet town. He emphasized the importance of using technology to update them on every movement of the machinery and highlighted the role of residents in monitoring the equipment.

He also promised to engage with the locals to address roads marked for facelifting and construction across the county. In the same event, Nandi County Government Chief Executive Committee Member in Charge of Agriculture and Cooperative Development, Kiplimo Lagat, noted that the strategic plans discussed are part of the County Integrated Development Plan, aligning with the National Government’s Medium Term Development Plans.

Dr. Lagat emphasized that the plans reflect the aspirations of the President for Kenyans through his Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, as outlined in his manifesto.
