Post: Narok Donates Assistive Devices to 500 Individuals

Narok: At least 500 individuals with disabilities from 30 wards across Narok are benefiting from the ongoing donation and distribution of assistive devices courtesy of the county government. The devices being issued at the William Ole Ntimama Stadium, ranging from wheelchairs, cerebral palsy chairs, crutches, and walking frames to walking sticks are part of a targeted initiative designed to enhance mobility, independence, and overall quality of life.

According to Kenya News Agency, the distribution exercise follows a structured process that includes registration, individual assessments to determine the most suitable device, professional fitting, and counselling to support beneficiaries in adapting to their new equipment. Speaking during the launch of the exercise, Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu emphasized his administration's dedication to the inclusivity and welfare of individuals with disabilities.

'As a county government, we believe that every person deserves equal opportunity, dignity, and support regardless of physical ability. Today's workshop is a testament that we are walking the talk on inclusivity. I want to thank our partners, especially the National Council for Persons with Disabilities and Hope Mobility Kenya, for standing with us in this noble cause. We will continue to work hand-in-hand to ensure that persons with disabilities in Narok live better and more empowered lives. This is just the beginning,' said Governor Ntutu.

Highlighting the transformative impact of the initiative, Governor Ntutu also noted that the county has set aside a budget of Sh50 million for special programmes aimed at further supporting this vulnerable group. Founder Michael Panther highlighted the organisation's mission, emphasizing the importance of empowering persons with disabilities through practical interventions.

'We are driven by a passion to provide mobility solutions that not only improve accessibility but also restore dignity and independence. Our partnership with Narok County is a vital step towards building a community where every individual can thrive,' said Panther. Hope Mobility Kenya, a non-governmental organisation committed to supplying essential human necessities through self-help initiatives, is spearheading the project.

The distribution drive is being executed in collaboration with Narok County Pastors Fellowship and the County Government's Department of Social Services.
