Narok’s Stadium Undergoes Renovations For WASCO, KECOSO Games

William ole Ntimama Stadium in Narok has been closed for renovations ahead of Water Companies Sports Organisation (WASCO) games from August 13 to 18 and later the 42nd edition of Kenya Communications Sports Organisation (KECOSO) games that will kick off on August 19-26.

Narok County Executive Committee for Education, Youth Affairs, Sports, Gender, Culture, and Social Services Robert K. Simotwo said the county government has closed the stadium to pave the way for renovation as the county awaits to hold the two national competitions.

Simotwo advised those teams that have been using the stadium to look for alternative playgrounds so that they can pave for WASCO and KECOSO games that will be held this month.

Simotwo added that the county government is ensuring that their playing surfaces are improved up to standards and rectifying areas in the stadium that need repairs so that the games become successful.

He noted that the stadium is almost complete with the preparations and Narok will be expected to be busy for the next two weeks of the event.

Simotwo said the county government is working closely with the national government to ensure security is maintained for all players.

‘We are working with security team to boost the security situation because the town will be busy for the two weeks of the events,’ said Simotwo.

The Narok business community is being challenged to take advantage of the sporting games and reap more profits as they provide accommodation, food, and everything else that visitors need.

The managing director of Narok Water and Sewerage Company, Justus Lemein, said they were expecting over 3,000 participants in the WASCO games.

Lemein noted that apart from competing in the games, the visitors will also have a chance to tour the Maasai Mara Game Reserve and view the wildlife during this migration season.
