Former Kisii County Public Service Board Chairman Elijah Obebo has been sworn in as the Deputy Governor following the impeachment of Dr. Robert Monda.Dr. Monda was impeached by the Senate, who found him guilty of the four charges tabled against him, including gross violation of the Constitution, abuse of office, gross misconduct, and crimes under National law.This was after Ichuni Ward MCA Wycliff Siocha moved a motion to impeach him at the Kisii County Assembly, and 53 members voted to approve his removal from office.Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony held at Gusii Stadium, the deputy governor (DG) thanked Governor Simba Arati for choosing him as the most suitable candidate for the position.Mr. Obebo assured the county leadership of his commitment, dedication, and goodwill to deliver the pledges in the Governor's manifesto for the betterment of Kisii County.Further, he promised a corruption-free leadership, saying that his principles resonate well with the governor's call for zero tolerance o n corruption and misuse of public resources.Having served in various capacities in the national government for many years and thereafter being appointed as the Chairman of the Kisii County Public Service Board, the DG noted that his experience was a testament to his hard work.Governor Arati lauded President William Ruto for intervening in the publication of the gazette notice of the DG's swearing-in ceremony.Arati congratulated his deputy for working diligently as the Public Service Board Chairman and expressed his trust in him as he began his new journey.He called upon the DG to be faithful to the course and resist any form of corruption in order to ensure the development of the county in the future.Source: Kenya News Agency
