Kisii: The newly appointed chairperson of the Kisii County Public Service Board, Haron Onguso, along with the secretary, Alfred Nyagwoka, has officially been sworn in. This event follows the Kisii County Assembly's Select Committee on Appointments adopting the report on the vetting of both individuals earlier this week.
According to Kenya News Agency, the swearing-in ceremony took place at Gusii Stadium in Kisii town and was attended by county officials, community leaders, and residents. Kisii Deputy Governor Elijah Obebo, representing Governor Simba Arati, expressed commitment to supporting the board's mandate and ensuring its independence. Obebo highlighted the importance of maintaining a legacy of service delivery that meets the expectations of the public.
In his address, the Deputy Governor called on the board to prioritize vulnerable groups, including women, youth, and people with disabilities, urging them to act without bias. Haron Onguso, in his acceptance speech, vowed to perform his duties with transparency and honesty, aiming to foster a collaborative working relationship with all board members to enhance service delivery in the county.
Onguso expressed gratitude to the public for the opportunity to serve and assured them of his commitment to accountability. Additionally, the County Assembly's Minority Leader, Dennis Ombachi, praised Onguso and Nyagwoka for their new roles, emphasizing the need for integrity and inclusivity in the public service board. Ombachi affirmed that the duo demonstrated their capability to serve the people during their appearances before the assembly, encouraging them to fulfill their promises to the citizens.
