Post: New streetlights installed in Misri informal settlements

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has unveiled 30 new streetlights in Misri, Limuru East Ward, Limuru Sub-County.Wamatangi together with the County Executive for Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Municipalities Salome Wainaina and area MCA Macharia Ka Wambui commissioned the new streetlights under the Second Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Project (KISIP 2).While speaking to the residents of Misri, Wamatangi highlighted the significance of the project.'The installation of these streetlights is a critical step in our ongoing efforts to improve living conditions in informal settlements. It reflects our commitment to enhancing security and fostering economic development,' he said.Additionally, Wamatangi described the initiative as a testament to his commitment to enhancing security and driving economic growth, which aligns with President William Ruto's Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).'These streetlights are more than just a source of illumination, the initiative is a testament to my commitment to enhance security and drive economic growth of the country,' he said.On her part, Wainaina explained that the goal of the project was to enhance basic structures and change lives.'The main objective is to upgrade basic infrastructure and transform lives by enhancing living conditions, improving security, reducing crime, and making the community safer,' she said.The county executive further stated that the initiative aims to extend working hours for local businesses, which would foster economic growth and development.The project, being funded by the World Bank, the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), and the European Union (EU), is a collaboration between the County Government and the State Department for Housing and Urban Development.Source: Kenya News Agency
