Douala: The Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) is commemorating its 67th year of autonomy, having gained independence from the Basel Mission in 1957. The celebrations, which are centered around the theme ‘Blessed Assurance’, are taking place both at home and in congregations abroad on Sunday, November 10, 2024. This event marks the final mission feast day presided over by the outgoing PCC Moderator, Rt. Rev Dr. Fonki Samuel Forba.
According to Cameroon News Agency, the outgoing Moderator, in his traditional letter to the faithful inspired by Psalms 124:1-6, expressed his conviction that the church remains steadfast in Christ Jesus and will endure through all situations. He conveyed his wishes for peace, justice, and fairness as the church progresses into the future. The church’s over two million members are engaging in prayers of thanksgiving, and various groups are participating in liturgical singing and other Bible-based activities to compete and evangelize.
This year’s celebrations precede the church’
s elections for top leadership positions, including Moderator and Synod Clerk, scheduled for November 16-18. These elections have been a focal point of media discussions. Preliminary activities for the celebration began on November 9, featuring various sporting events and other community engagements across PCC congregations.
