Post: Potholes in Buea have become pools

The once-thriving city of Buea is now plagued by a scourge of potholes, leaving residents and motorists frustrated and disturbed. The rising number of potholes with fast expanding sides has made life difficult for denizens who call for urgent action from authorities. The city's roads have degenerated into a network of craters and cracks, causing damage to vehicles and posing a risk to pedestrians. The situation has been exacerbated by recent rainfall, which has further eroded the already-compromised infrastructure.'I've lived in Buea all my life, and I've never seen the roads this bad,' said a local resident, Mrs. Evelyne Njie. 'It's like driving in a war zone. Something needs to be done, and fast,' she added.Business owners are also feeling the pinch, as the poor road conditions are deterring customers and affecting trade.'The potholes are a nightmare,' said Mr. Francis Moki, a local shopkeeper. 'Customers are reluctant to come to our area because of the state of the roads. We're losing business, and it's affecting our livelihoods.'The population hope for the Buea Council to take measures together with other stakeholders to repair and maintain roads.'We need more than just promises,' said Mr. Njie, a local taxi driver. 'We need action. The Council needs to take responsibility and fix these roads to save our vehicles.'Council authorities have said they have no will over the stretch running into the town, which is a national road. They however say they are factoring the much they can do with available resources in areas they can.Source: Cameroon News Agency
