Post: President’s Daughter Challenges the Youth to Seize Opportunities

Eldoret: President Dr. William Ruto's daughter Charlene has urged young people to proactively take advantage of the various incentives and programs by the national government. 'The job of any government is to create a conducive environment. It is upon us to seize and utilize the opportunities that abound,' she said, citing the rapidly expanding digital sector as one of the most promising areas for youth to engage in.

According to Kenya News Agency, the president's daughter encouraged young people to embrace innovation, digital entrepreneurship, and skills development to secure their place in an evolving global economy. Charlene was speaking when she graced the International Youth Day Celebrations, 2025, event at Uasin Gishu County Headquarters, Eldoret.

Acting County Executive Committee Member for Youth Affairs Eng. Lucy Ng'endo and her Chief Officer, CPA Victorine Kapkiai, detailed a range of ongoing county initiatives targeting youth empowerment. These include capacity-building workshops, business incubation programs, and expanded access to affordable financing for youth-led enterprises.

Eng. Ng'endo said the county is committed to working closely with youth groups across all wards to ensure inclusivity and equitable access to resources, while Kapkiai emphasized the importance of youth participation in shaping the policies that affect them.

The event also brought together a cross-section of county leadership including Kaptagat Ward MCA Jonathan Ng'etich, County Executives Martha Cheruto (Trade) and Anthony Sitienei (Water), Chief Officer Mark Some, City Manager Elzeba Busienei, and several directors. As the county marked International Youth Day, the leaders celebrated the young generation as a central driver of Uasin Gishu's future, insisting that their empowerment was not just a policy priority but a shared responsibility.
