Threats to public health are constantly under scrutiny. The training of health workers needs attention, as contained in a release from the Council for the Profession of Nurses, Midwives, and Health Technicians (CNMT) of Cameroon.The August 7 announcement said the provisions of the 1980 law on the creation of training schools were being disregarded. CNMT explained that this has given room for quality variation in training due to trainer qualifications lacking unique standards.'Another major problem is the introduction of shortcuts leading to BTS/HND/DSEP/HPD diplomas in health. These fast-track courses cannot guarantee the acquisition of the knowledge and skills needed to practice in the healthcare field competently and ethically,' CNMT said.It is against this backdrop that CNMT calls for an end to the training of BTS/HND/DSEP/HPD in health in Cameroon. Under the pretext that the training standards need to be reviewed, to guarantee patient safety.Nonetheless, the body of professionals invites the BTS/H ND/DSEP/HPD diploma holders in health to examine the resolutions of the MINESUP-MINISANTE Council platform to find solutions to their worries from the complexity of issues.Source: Cameroon News Agency
