People with disability (PWDs) in Migori County have received free wheelchairs from the Walkabout Foundation to ease their mobility challenges.

Speaking during the issuing of 100 wheelchairs to PWDs at the Migori County Referral Hospital, the Migori Deputy Governor Joseph Mahiri said that the partnership between the Walkabout Foundation and the Migori County has brought a lot of joy and smiles to the disabled people.

Mahiri noted that the county cannot afford to meet all the health challenges affecting the county residents alone but through partnership, a lot can be achieved.

Mahiri advised the beneficiaries to utilise the wheelchairs well so that they could last and serve them longer.

He thanked the Walkabout Foundation for their gesture and called upon more willing partners to come on board and supplement the county’s efforts in providing health care and support to the local citizens.

The Walkabout Foundation representative Samuel Wanyeri said that the foundation has been helping out PWDs across the co
unty access free wheelchairs to aid in their daily mobility for a decent lifestyle.

The official promised those who missed out on the wheelchairs that the foundation will soon roll out another programme to help more PWDs access better mobility services for self-independency.
