Post: Relief Food Brings Hope to Vulnerable Families in Vihiga

Vihiga: Struggling households in Vihiga County have received help after the national government delivered food aid to cushion families grappling with hunger. The county received 300 bags of maize and 260 bags of beans, which are being distributed across 38 locations, with about 20 people per location expected to benefit.

According to Kenya News Agency, Public Service and Human Capital Development Principal Secretary Dr. Jane Imbunya, speaking in Vihiga, lauded the initiative and urged leaders to sustain similar projects. She stated that the relief food would provide immediate support to struggling families and demonstrates the Kenya Kwanza government's commitment to standing with citizens in times of need.

On her part, the county women representative, Beatrice Adagala, commended the government for responding to the plight of residents, noting that the program specifically targets needy households. The County Commissioner Florence Sitawa expressed gratitude for the timely intervention, assuring residents that the distribution would be conducted fairly. She emphasized that the food donation would go a long way in cushioning the most vulnerable members of society.

Additionally, the County Police Commander Zacharia Bitok pledged that security officers would oversee the process to ensure the supplies reach the intended beneficiaries without any diversion. For many families, the food donation marks a welcome relief at a time when hunger continues to threaten households across the region.
