Nyandarua Governor Kiarie Badilisha has called upon the residents of Nyandarua to maintain peace amid the current high political temperatures in the country.
Badilisha who was addressing the residents at Mutanga area in Ndaragwa Constituency during Mashujaa Day celebrations noted that a peaceful coexistence and love for one another is crucial for development in the county and country in general; calling upon the residents to be optimistic that things will turn out for the good.
The governor appreciated the MauMau remnants for safeguarding and ensuring the public land in Ndaragwa is not grabbed assuring them that his government will ensure no public land in Nyandarua will be grabbed for private use.
On compensation for historical injustices committed by the colonial authorities, Badilisha noted that though the matter concerns the national government, there is a need for the veterans to be compensated he however noted that the county government will see how freedom fighters would benefit from the Social Hea
lth Insurance Fund.
The County boss noted that within the two years, he has been in office, his government has made strides in all sectors despite the challenges facing the counties, especially the challenge of disbursement of funds from the national government, which he said is threatening development.
Governor Badilisha reiterated that his government has disbursed a bursary of Sh420 million to over 100,000 learners in the county, hence fast-tracking their retention in schools.
In matters agriculture, the county government has facilitated artificial insemination services to about 3100 cows through its program of cheap A.I services at Sh400 while providing farmers with high-yielding super Napier grass.
The county government of Nyandarua is also embarking on introducing cash crops such as sugar beet, avocado, and apple to empower the local community economically.
On enhancing service delivery through devolved units, the governor noted his government has established new municipalities in the county which w
ill enhance solid waste management, and fire breakout management as well as improve businesses among other roles.
Additionally, he stated that currently there are over 86 health facilities in the county from 75 two years ago where his government has employed over 100 health workers with a promise of increasing the number in the future.
Nyandarua County Commissioner, Abdirazaak Jaldesa called upon the residents to continue being patriotic and live in unity for they need each other and further urged them to register with the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) which is been spearheaded by chiefs.
He also appreciated the residents for prompt reporting of those engaging in illegal activities which has helped to stamp out illicit brews as well as arrest of culprits of stock theft in the area.
The event was graced by elected political leaders and county departmental officials among other dignitaries.
