The defence committee of leader in Ennahdha movement Sahbi Atig called for the immediate release of its client, saying “that his detention is illegal.” In a statement released by Ennahdha movement on Tuesday, the defence committee said that the investigating judge completed investigations into Atig’s case and he was cleared of all the charges brought against him. The defence committee reiterated that Atig’s health is critical as he has been on a hunger strike for 46 days, as a protest against his detention in connection with this case. The investigating judge at the Ariana Court of First Instance last May 12 issued arrest warrants for Sahbi Atig, leader of the Ennahdha movement, and two others on charges of forming a criminal conspiracy for the purpose of money laundering, illegal possession of currency and living false testimony, according to court spokesperson Fatma Boukataya.
