Secondary School Sports National Championships Enters Semis

A thrilling match is expected as secondary school sports National championships enter semis on Friday.

In boys soccer, St. Anthony Boys High School, representing Rift Valley Region, will play against Shanderema Boys High School from Western Region.

The Match between the two schools is expected to attract a huge number of fans, with Shanderema being a school from Kakamega County.

Dagoreti from Nairobi region, who humbled St. Anthony Boys 1-0 during Thursday’s group matches, is expected to play against Agoro Sare in the second semis.

Two winners from both semis will meet at the Finals on Saturday as the teams that finish second compete for one slot to book their ticket to represent Kenya in the East and Central Africa School Championships in Rwanda.

In Soccer Girls, Madira will play against Butere Girls in the first semifinal, as Wiyeta Girls meets Dagoreti Mixed.

In volleyball for boys, Andersen High will play against Tumaini, while Namwela School will encounter Ruthimitu Secondary School.

Kesogon High School will meet Soweto girls in the volleyball first semifinals, while Mwitoti girls will meet six-time East Africa secondary school volleyball champions Kwanthanze girls.

In netball, Andersen will play Oyugi Ogango School, while Bukokholo will be with Syumile from Makueni.

In Rugby boys, Koyonzo Secondary School will play against Kitondo as St. Mary’s Yala meets Vihiga High.

Sports fans have been thronging various fields to witness the games as teams tackle each other in entertaining matches.

Sports fields in Kakamega have for the last three days been filled to capacity, with Bukhungu Stadium, which has been hosting the host team matches, filling by 9 a.m. The Stadium is expected to fill by early morning during the semi-finals on Friday and the finals on Saturday.
