Post: SHA Registration; Governor assures of smooth transition

Laikipia County governor, Joshua Irungu, has assured residents of his administration's commitment to ensure no one is denied services at any hospital in the county even as the transition to a new medical insurance scheme is ongoing.This comes after the government rolled out the Social Health Authority (SHA) countrywide replacing the now defunct National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).Irungu said that plans are underway to have members of the public sensitized on the new shift to ensure they not only understand its operations but also enroll for the new insurance cover.He noted that patients seeking dialysis services and those with lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and hypertension do not have cause to worry as the SHA will cater for their medical needs.He spoke while on his visit at the Nyahururu County and Referral Hospital Wednesday where he led the registration exercise and assured citizens that healthcare services will continue uninterrupted.The governor, who was accompanied by Laikipia County CECM for Health Services, Albert Taiti and Nyahururu County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Dr. Lawrence Kamande, encouraged Kenyans to register for SHA to gain access to free primary healthcare, emphasizing that no health facility will deny anyone services during this transition period.The leaders said members of the public will be educated adequately on the services that will be served by SHA with the help of Community Health Promoters.Source: Kenya News Agency
