Post: Sissili: 613 Teachers Equipped on Educational Reforms

Ouagadougou: Post-primary and secondary school teachers in the province of Sissili completed their annual pedagogical days on Friday, October 10, 2025. Held from October 7 to 10 in Leo, this training session helped strengthen the capacities of 613 teachers on the new reforms of the education system. Coordinated by the provincial director of Secondary Education, Vocational and Technical Training, Serge Toe, these days were placed under the theme of "the skills-based approach" and structural reforms of the education system.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the participants were divided into workshops according to their disciplines, where they became familiar with the Integral Skills Approach (APCI), the integration of professions, and the establishment of the School Council, the new management body of the establishments. Serge Toe explained that the country is undergoing a significant transformation of its education system, moving towards a professionalization of schools to enable students to become self-employed or join companies directly. He emphasized the shift from the diploma or sector approach to introducing students to careers and identifying multi-purpose establishments for vocational training.

The response from participants was generally positive. Alexis Mano, a philosophy teacher at the provincial high school in Leo, noted the need for adopting new evaluation methods and organizing the educational community's life differently. Meanwhile, Ms. Neboua, nee Nignan Wourkia, a French-English teacher at the CEG in Yalle, welcomed the reforms but expressed concern that some expectations, such as harmonizing forms, were not addressed.

The training session concluded with a ceremony at the Berekia Technical School Complex in Leo. In his closing remarks, Serge Toe urged participants to reinvest their newly acquired skills immediately. He emphasized the importance of implementing the new reforms upon returning to their posts, as the success of these changes is vital for the country's future.
