Cotonou- Members of the executive committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), chaired by Patrice Motsepe, met by videoconference on Monday to discuss the ratification of reports and the future of new African competitions in this period of health crisis linked to Covid-19.
The executive committee of CAF, at the end of this conclave, awarded a positive cachet to the full report of the CAF organization delegation, led by Vice-President Augustin Senghor and Secretary General Veron Mosengo-Omba , for inspection work in Cameroon, with the aim of making good progress.
He, among other things, underlined the need to ensure a follow-up with the local organizing committee of CAN 2021, in the areas which require special attention, without forgetting the ratification of the signing of the framework agreement, the last weekend, for the organization and hosting of the final tournament of the 33rd edition of the CAN.
Speaking about the situation of the Covid-19 health crisis, in particular the participation of supporters in the CAN, the executive committee raised questions, indicating that it was in talks with the Cameroonian government for favorable outcomes in order to preserve the health of its populations.
The executive committee of CAF also looked into the organization of CAN 2023 organized by the Ivory Coast with the sending of an inspection delegation to assess the progress of the preparations. He plans to open on February 22, 2022, an office to support the host country and the local organizing committee in their preparations.
