Kampala: The Federation of East Africa School Sports Association (FEASSA) championship is heating up as St. Anthony Boys from Kitale, Kakungulu from Uganda, and St. Charles Lwanga edge closer to clinching the hockey title.According to Kenya News Agency, Kakungulu from Uganda dominated their match against MPESA with a decisive 4-0 victory, placing them at the top of the table with 16 points. Meanwhile, St. Anthony Boys secured a commanding 6-1 win over Kyadondo from Uganda, positioning them in second place with 14 points.St. Charles Lwanga managed a narrow 1-0 victory over Musingu, tying them for second place with St. Anthony Boys but trailing in goal difference. Kakungulu is set to face St. Charles Lwanga in their next match, needing a win to secure the championship title. A victory for St. Charles Lwanga, however, could strengthen their title aspirations if St. Anthony either draws or loses in their final match.St. Anthony Boys will also compete in their concluding match tomorrow, aiming to overtake Ka kungulu, who currently lead the standings.The FEASSA hockey tournament follows a round-robin format, where the team with the most points wins the gold medal, and the runner-up receives silver. Kakungulu presently leads with 16 points, with St. Anthony Boys' High School and St. Charles Lwanga following closely with 14 points each. Musingu holds the fourth position with 9 points after their defeat by St. Charles Lwanga.Other standings include Mbarara from Uganda in fifth place with 9 points, Ntare in sixth with 3 points, MPESA in seventh with two points, and Kyadondo in eighth with one point.Elijah Kiarie, the Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) Executive Member in charge of hockey, remarked on the high level of competition displayed by Kenyan teams as they approach the championship title.In boys' football, St. Joseph Boys have secured a spot in the semifinals after defeating Agai 3-1, while Butere Boys drew 1-1 with Amus of Uganda to claim a place in the second semifinals.
