Machakos: The government, through the Ministry of Public Service, has plans to establish Huduma centres in each subcounty and constituency in the country as part of the Bottom Up Transformative Agenda and Kenya Vision 2030. The Principal Secretary Public Service, Amos Gathecha, announced this initiative at the Machakos Huduma Centre during the launch of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management Services (KISM) into 10 Huduma centres to enhance service delivery.
According to Kenya News Agency, Gathecha noted that there are currently 58 Huduma centres, with plans to expand to each of the 290 constituencies in the country, aiming to bring services closer to citizens. "In Kenya Vision 2030, we pledged to have a Huduma centre in each constituency," Gathecha stated. He emphasized that deploying KISM into Huduma centres reaffirms their commitment to increasing convenience for supply chain practitioners who currently need to travel to Nairobi for KISM services.
Gathecha encouraged KISM to leverage the partnership with Huduma to extend its services across the existing 58 centres. "KISM partnering with Huduma will help eliminate the need for supply chain practitioners to go in search of KISM services all over the country," he added. He also highlighted the role of the Huduma Universal Agent, a trained staff member, as a key enabler in the partnership, assisting those who are digitally disadvantaged to access online services.
KISM CEO Kenneth Matiba remarked that launching KISM services through Huduma is a stepping stone towards improvement, reflecting the evolving needs of their members who require seamless access to these services. "We recognize the importance of access and this launch is a testament to our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our members," Matiba commented.
The integration of KISM into Huduma will allow individuals and organizations access to membership registration and renewals, certification and licensing services, as well as information on continuous professional development programs and general inquiries. Matiba assured that KISM would adhere to governing guidelines and ensure officers discharge their duties with professionalism and integrity. "I urge all stakeholders to embrace the new chapter and frontier for service delivery with enthusiasm and determination to build an impactful supply chain profession," he concluded.
