Post: Students Benefit from JKF Scholarship Support

Vihiga: The Jomo Kenyatta Foundation (JKF) Scholarship Programme has provided financial assistance to students from needy backgrounds in Vihiga County. The beneficiaries, drawn from various public secondary schools, received essential supplies through the County Commissioner's office.

According to Kenya News Agency, the package included soap, tissue, sanitary towels, and other basic items aimed at easing the burden on parents and guardians. While presiding over the distribution, the acting County Commissioner Florence Sitawa urged the students to remain disciplined both at school and at home, saying academic excellence and good conduct were key in retaining the scholarship.

Sitawa advised students to seek assistance from the office whenever they face challenges at school or home, emphasizing the importance of staying focused on their studies. County Education Office representative Caroline Achieng mentioned that the programme is currently supporting 169 students across the county, primarily those in Form Two and Form Three.

Achieng further noted that besides paying school fees, JKF also provides pocket money and other necessities. Parents present at the event welcomed the support, with Mr. Dan Waka, a father of a Form Two student at Kolanya Girls, expressing that the scholarship had eased his financial struggles.

Students also expressed their appreciation, with Daniel Mbwe, one of the beneficiaries, stating that the support had motivated him to work hard and focus on his education. The JKF Scholarship Programme continues to support thousands of learners countrywide, ensuring access to education and reducing school dropout rates.
