Nyahururu: Students from Nyahururu received valuable career guidance during a session held at PCEA Nyahururu Church, facilitated by tutors from the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS). The session aimed to provide students with essential insights into making informed choices regarding their higher education paths.
According to Kenya News Agency, Angeline Wahu, one of the facilitators from KUCCPS, and Augustine Ngingi from St. Paul’s University emphasized the importance of aligning career choices with personal interests and strengths. Wahu advised students against selecting courses based solely on popularity or peer influence, as this could lead to future dissatisfaction. She underscored the need for students to choose programs that resonate with their interests.
Ngigi highlighted the significance of considering marketability and job prospects when choosing a career. She urged students to research the demand for various professions and align their choices with both personal aspirations and industry requirements. Ngigi also guided students through the KUCCPS portal, providing insights into the application process and common mistakes to avoid.
The students, preparing to transition to higher education, expressed gratitude for the session. They noted that it offered clarity on making informed academic decisions. Alice Wanjiru, a student, mentioned gaining a better understanding of the factors to consider when selecting a course, while James Njoroge appreciated learning how to navigate the KUCCPS portal effectively.
As the KUCCPS placement deadline approaches, students were encouraged to utilize available resources and seek guidance to optimize their opportunities for suitable career paths and placements in various colleges.
