Tunisia-Romania: Several MoUs signed to develop trade relations

Several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) aimed at developing trade relations and strengthening economic cooperation between Tunisia and Romania were signed recently by the Tunis Chamber of Commerce and the Bucharest, Constanta and Prahova Chambers of Commerce, on the one hand, and by the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (Fipa) and the Romanian Foreign Trade and Investment Agency (ARICE), on the other, CEPEX reported on Thursday.

These agreements were signed during an economic mission currently being organised in Romania by the Export Promotion Centre in coordination with the Tunisian Embassy in Bucharest.

The aim of this mission is to explore business and investment opportunities in promising sectors in both countries and to further develop the bilateral economic partnership.

A programme of visits to Romanian companies has been organised as part of the mission to complement efforts to identify potential partners and new business opportunities.

CEPEX noted that “the business forum and B2B contacts organised on the fringes of this visit were also an opportunity to point out that Tunisia can very well act as a bridge between Europe and African countries, thanks to its geographical proximity at the heart of the Mediterranean and the free trade agreements signed with African countries, including COMESA”.

Trade between Tunisia and Romania reached 1250 million dinars in 2022 but remains below the real opportunities offered by the two countries.
